REWILDING KIDS AUSTRALIA
PUBLISHED BY HARDIE GRANT BOOKS
Slow down, open your eyes to your natural surrounds and take a trip around Australia! You will find green turtles in the Great Barrier Reef, lyrebirds in the Blue Mountains, Tassie devils from the Apple Isle and quokkas in Western Australia. Make this book your own by decorating and colouring as you go. Each spread is bursting with weird and wonderful facts, place names in First Nations languages, cool illustrations and maps, as well as fun activities that encourage you to step outside and find out what lives in your own backyard. It’s time to explore!
After the success of the Kiama Passport for Kids, which focused on the small coastal area in NSW, I wanted to reach a wider audience to help kids and parents during a difficult period of natural disasters of fires and floods, then COVID and a rise in mental health issues in children.
Rewilding Kids Australia is designed to help kids realise the benefits of being in nature. If they’re feeling stressed, anxious or sad, they can help themselves, simply by spending time outdoors. I hope kids will take away lasting memories of wonderful hours spent in nature with loved ones or by themselves – and have time away from their screens.
The book teaches kids, in a gentle and positive way, to be sensitive to animals and take care of the environment and the planet.
