I’m so grateful for the experience of being this year's Book week author-in-residence, running workshops for four local high school groups. It was so rewarding working with the talented Bundanon learning team to develop and present my workshop, and the students artworks and approach to the workshop blew me away!

 

The brief was to design and illustrate a book cover that captures the magic of Bundanon, inspired by this year’s Book week theme, “Reading is Magic.” 

 

Students were encouraged to create an artwork based on their Bundanon experience, adding a magical touch through titles, graphics, colour or expressive line work.

My workshop combined nature observation with art, aiming for:

• Mindful observation of nature 

• Drawing nature to capture memories

• Learning how to design a book cover

• Taking home their own field notes booklet and completed cover artwork
